Step into Cindy Tong’s studio as she demonstrates the early stages of making a mug, from forming the vessel on the wheel through to adding the handle in this two part series.

Part I: Throw & Trim - See how a mug is thrown on the wheel, then trimmed to refine its shape, foot and proportions once the clay has firmed up.

Part II: Pull & Attach Handle - Learn how a handle is pulled from a small piece of clay, shaped by hand and carefully attached to the mug.
